about

"Comprised of minimal inputs - field recordings, tape and digital loops, and a couple of synth drones - Aros E-V creates sound worlds wherein these minimal inputs are mined for all the depth and complexity they can offer."
-Tome to the Weather Machine (2019)

"Warm tones and lots of crackle and hiss, referencing the source. Ambitious in heterogeneous effects, pairing distant drone with textural actions and wavy synth. The tone moves from the center, outwardly, with a glow."
-Toneshift (2019)

/// About the release:

'return journey' explores the space between memory and reality.

last year, I moved across the world. I brought tokens that reminded me of home - cards, knick-knacks, coffee mugs. I also brought a cassette of old choir recordings, I found it at a garage sale a few weeks before leaving. tape loops from this cassette inspired 'return journey.'

regardless of the tokens I keep, I feel the distance between my memory of home and its reality stretching. 'return journey' inhabits that space. tones and rhythms pull at each other, slowly settling on a composite.

/// Live recorded with:

Tape loops from an old recording of Lowlands Away
Tape drone via a Portastudio 03
Digital loop and drone via an RC-202 loop station
Synth drone via a Kastle mini modular synthesizer
More synth via a Volca FM synthesizer
Field recording via a microcassette recorder
